Fog causes flight delays, cancellations

Passengers at Dunedin Airport had to wait nearly two extra hours after ground fog disrupted multiple flights yesterday.

A Dunedin Airport spokeswoman confirmed a total of 10 flights were disrupted by fog.

Seven arrivals from and departures to Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington were delayed — Air New Zealand flight NZ676 to Auckland being delayed nearly two hours.

Three flights — including one arrival from and one departure to Christchurch, as well as a departure to Wellington — were cancelled altogether.

The airport was affected until about 11.10am yesterday, at which point Jetstar flight JQ283 from Auckland landed on time, the spokeswoman said.
