Nash will return to politics to contest the Napier electorate seat for Winston Peters' party.
He held the same seat for Labour for three terms before he was sacked from Cabinet in 2023 by then Prime Minister and current Labour leader Chris Hipkins.
His sacking was over an email he sent to two donors in 2020 that breached rules set out in the Cabinet manual.
Nash spoke at New Zealand First's annual conference in September 2025, and did not rule out on campaigning for it at the election.
He resigned from his job at recruitment agency Robert Walters in 2025 after a formal review was initiated by the company over a comment he made in the media about women.
The election will be held on November 7.
