Now in its fourth year as a stand-alone event, the sale will be held next Saturday, June 6, from 10am to 6pm on the Regent Theatre stage.
The music and entertainment sale was originally part of the Regent Theatre’s 24 Hour Book Sale for about 50 years, but the increasing scale of the book sale led to the the establishment of a separate mid-year sale.
Sale co-ordinator Mark Burrows said the annual community event would offer a treasure trove of vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, sheet music, video games and more.
Mr Burrows and a small team of volunteers have been hard at work for several months sorting dozens of boxes of donated items, including some stereo equipment which has been tested.
“We are looking forward to attracting music lovers, collectors and bargain hunters from across the region to the sale,” he said.
Donations for the sale had been “really solid and stocks are looking good”.
“We have music from some fascinating artists on vinyl, from Stockhausen to The Fourmyula and Fred Dagg, as well as a spectacular collection of classical music,” he said.
“We also have more 45s this year, with great music from the 1960s.
“CDs seem to be having a resurgence and we have a good quality selection in all genres, as well as some very cool cassettes.”
The work of local musicians also features among the sale selection, including The Chaps and Marcus Turner.
Mr Burrows said the sheet music selection was always a very popular aspect of the sale, bargain hunters making the most of the opportunity to access it.
“We definitely have a great selection of hard-to-find and potentially valuable items on offer — it’s going to be a great chance for people to bag some bargains.”
All funds raised from the Regent Theatre Music and Entertainment Sale on June 6 will go towards the maintenance of the historic Regent Theatre, which is operated by a charitable trust.
