A man has been arrested and two are missing in China after conducting an investigation into a Chinese company making Ivanka Trump-branded shoes, China Labor Watch, a New York-based advocacy group, said on Wednesday (local time).

United Airlines said on Thursday (local time) it would offer passengers who volunteer to forfeit their seats on overbooked flights up to $10,000 ($NZ14,500) as part of the carrier's efforts to repair the damage from the rough removal of a passenger.

The US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, pushed the UN Security Council on Thursday (local time) to focus "all eyes and all pressure" on Russia to try and end the Syrian conflict and pressed for council action even if it faces a veto by Moscow.

President Donald Trump said on Thursday (local time) he pulled back from the brink of killing the 23-year-old trade pact with Canada and Mexico after requests from their leaders and expressed optimism about winning better US terms in a renegotiated deal.
