50% stake in Dunedin Placemakers

Dunedin's Placemakers outlet has a new 50% shareholder following the recent retirement of Trevor Cockburn after 36 years in the building supply business.

Former Christchurch businessman Justin Macready was retail operations manager at Placemakers in Christchurch for eight years.

He established and managed its framing and truss division for two years.

He has bought the 50% share in the Dunedin operation, of which the remaining 50% is held by listed company Fletcher Building, and whose clientele is 90% trade accounts.

Mr Macready, who has moved to Dunedin with his family, said other than extending Placemakers' distribution system and upgrading its framing and truss operations, there were no planned changes for the outlet, which employs more than 50 full-time equivalent staff.
