"PE is a most fascinating subject.''

This comes from East Otago High School head boy Justin Lobb, who plays everything from hockey and basketball to rugby and tennis.

The 17-year-old also has dreams of studying a degree in physical education, because he finds it ‘‘so, so fascinating'' and learning about how the body works is ‘‘amazing''.

Justin favours hockey for ‘‘the pace of it'' and basketball in which he can ‘‘put up a whole lot of shots''.

He has played both for about five years and represented Otago in under-16 and under-18 hockey.

In his spare time he also dabbles in netball and volleyball along with practising for his other codes.

Despite his sporting success, his proudest achievement is ‘‘the honour of becoming head boy''.

The leadership role is ‘‘great'' and ties in well with other positions he holds, such as board of trustees representative and peer support leader.

He is also a sporting role model as Sport Captain in 2007 and 2008, captain of the summer hockey team for the past two years and captain of the senior boys volleyball and hockey teams this year.

Before his appointment he also took the opportunity to hone his public speaking skills by competing in the Otago Anniversary Speech Competition and the Rotary Speech Competition.

Achievements: Head boy; peer support leader; house captain; board of trustees representative 2007 to 2009; Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoors Pursuits Centre of NZ Leadership Certificate recipient; NCEA level one with merit, and level 2; Otago under-16 and under under-18 hockey representative.

Role model: His father, for his constructive criticism and advice. "Dad wants me to do the best that I can in anything I try."

Hopes for the future: "I hope to become a teacher and travel the world and teach in different countries" He also wanted to obtain a physical education degree before trainging to become a teacher.
