University of Otago students still seem to be under the spell of the old Walt Disney magic.

Disney World recruiters yesterday made a noon video-backed presentation at the university Arts building to promote their Florida-based student work programmes, having visited the Otago campus for three years in a row.

About 50 students, including some from Aoraki Polytechnic, attended the show, and 25 were later interviewed by Disney staff at the university's Career Development Centre.

Another presentation was made at 5pm.

University psychology student Kate Bull said she was keen to apply for student work at Walt Disney World Resort, also called Disney World, near Orlando, Florida.

And she was particularly keen to play the role of Minnie Mouse.

Another student, Ty Charoensuk, who is a trained lifeguard, wanted to work as a lifeguard at one of the water parks at the Disney complex.

Both said they had enjoyed watching Walt Disney cartoons and working for such a well-known organisation would add valuably to their CVs.

Centre manager Jackie Dean said that, in a competitive job market, having worked at Disney World could make a graduate's CV more attractive.
