About 200 motorcycles packed into central Dunedin on Saturday afternoon during the annual Bikers Rights of New Zealand (Bronz) ''toy run''.

Motorcyclists rode from Careys Bay to the Octagon in what Bronz Otago president Phil Scorringe described as a ''brilliant'' run. The riders brought toys for children and families needing a helping hand as Christmas drew near.

Among the participants was Dunedin resident Colin Winter (68), on his 1926 493cc BSA De Luxe, with wife Judy riding pillion.

The toy run has been organised by Bronz Otago for more than 30 years, and toys have been given by the bikers, their friends and other members of the public.

A large trailer containing more than 200 toys will be distributed by the Dunedin North Lions Club. Club president Ed Keable was pleased with the positive response and said it was ''very satisfying to see the trailer filling up''.
