Two cows, having escaped their paddock, were hit by separate cars and "severely injured" in Outram yesterday.
The two drivers received minor injuries and were assessed by St John at the scene.
The accident happened as the cows were on Outram-Mosgiel Rd about 5.55am, Sergeant Matt Lee, of Dunedin, said.
The first driver did not see the cows and struck one of them. The second cow ran behind that car and was hit by a second car travelling in the same direction.
Both cows were severely injured, although one was able to run off the road.
One lane of traffic was blocked until the farmer attended to the cow in the road.
The cars were both towed from the scene. — Allied Media
