65-year-old arrested for central Dunedin burglary

A 65-year-old man is due to appear in court on Tuesday after he was arrested for a burglary in the Cargill St area, near the Octagon, this weekend.

Police said the man was seen lingering outside an address on the street about 9.15pm on Saturday night, and decamped towards Haddon Pl once police arrived.

He was caught shortly before midnight, with the aid of a police dog.

A spokeswoman said she was unsure if anything had been taken, but the man was charged with burglary and would appear in the Dunedin District Court on April 9.
