Club president Leah Wilson said they initially did not have enough transport to move nine horses grazing at the club's Halfway Bush site, because someone had stolen the couplings and braking systems on two horse floats last Friday and Saturday.
''We had to find alternative transport for them because we couldn't use those floats.''
''This time we were lucky. But if it was an emergency situation ... ''
Mrs Wilson said it seemed an odd thing to steal, and club members were debating whether it was theft for a DIY trailer builder, sabotage, or something more malicious.
''It's pretty gutting really, because most people think horse riding is an exclusive sport and you've got to be wealthy.
''But most of these people don't have a lot of money. They're just trying to do their best for their kids.
''It's a huge inconvenience and a huge expense for them to repair the horse floats.
''It's the kids who miss out in the end.''
She said the club had now improved its security measures, which included locking the entry gate and installing cameras.
