Tools up for grabs in group’s clear-out

A men's woodworking club has decided it has too many tools and it is time to have a clear-out.

Taieri Blokes Shed is holding a garage sale at its headquarters at the Taieri airfield today, selling tools the club no longer requires and toys crafted by its members.

President Nick Wilson said the club had grown from 20 to 50 members since its inception and it needed to get rid of some tools to make space for them.

The club moved into its premises 16 years ago when a naval officer who was transferred to Dunedin started the community group.

The club is a place for its members to socialise, but also create goods for people who needed them.

"We come down here three mornings a week and we do jobs for kindys and schools and anyone else who wants a job doing that’s not big enough for a builder to do."

Tools including leaf-blowers, chainsaws and weed-eaters as well as wooden toys will be available from 9am-12.30pm today.
