Leith Athletic Club president Chris Sole said the run was in recognition of the Anzac soldiers and women who lost their lives at war.
"The run basically is a tribute we have done for the past few years."
He said the monument was a very special place on the peninsula from where you could get a 360deg view of Otago Harbour.
The runners got to the lookout in time to watch a Royal New Zealand Air Force P-8A Poseidon fly past.
