A person has been killed after a two-vehicle collision on the Lewis Pass in Canterbury.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said the crash happened on State Highway 7 near the Shale Creek Stream Bridge at Island Hills.
Emergency services were alerted at 4.45pm yesterday.
Police confirmed this morning that a person had died at the scene.
A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said ambulance staff assessed and treated two patients in a moderate and one in a minor condition.
All were transported to Christchurch Hospital.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing, police said.
