A man who went missing in Hanmer Springs has been found safe, police say.

Patrick Eager was last seen just before 10am yesterday on the Conical Hill Track in Hanmer Springs after becoming separated from family members while walking toward the summit.

He was announced found just after 10am today.

Police earlier said the 26-year-old was autistic and non-verbal and they were concerned for his welfare, as he was unfamiliar with the area and unlikely to seek help.

About 30 volunteers from Land Search and Rescue joined the Police Search and Rescue teams for today's search.

Police had also asked for anyone who had seen the man or who had information to contact them.

Eager was located safe and well, and police thanked the members of the public who helped search, the Land SAR teams, and businesses who supported the operation.
