A Rolls-Royce dealer is confident some of New Zealand's affluent Chinese community will pay around $700,000 for one of their new Year of the Dragon-inspired cars.
The tailormade range of Rolls-Royce Phantoms feature hand-painted dragons on the side of each wheelbase, embroidered dragons onto the headrests, a dragon inlay in the passenger panel and Year of the Dragon 2012 illuminated on the treadplates.
Rolls-Royce said in a statement the cars "celebrate the ultimate symbol of power, prosperity and good fortune''.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Auckland dealer Bob McMillan said he already had Chinese customers interested in buying one of the limited edition cars, despite them costing around $700,000.
"There will be a number of Asian buyers, absolutely.
"We've seen the car and there's no doubt it's an outstanding vehicle that really looks the part and is stunning.''
Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce today announced it was expanding its headquarters in West Sussex, Britain, following an increased demand for its cars.
The expansion includes a more than 2500 sq m increase in the assembly hall and an extra 640 square metres in the surface finishing centre.
