Man taken to hospital after being run over by trailer

A man escaped serious injury when he was run over by a trailer near a Central Otago high-country sheep station yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said they received a report about 12.10pm regarding a man in his 50s being injured near Bendigo Station.

It later emerged the man had suffered only minor injuries during the incident in Oliver Rd, Bendigo, off State Highway 8 between Tarras and Cromwell.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said the 58-year-old man was transported to Dunstan Hospital after the incident.

John Perriam, of Bendigo Station, said the incident did not happen on his station and did not involve workers on the farm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Andrew Norris said a crew from Cromwell attended but their services were not required.
