Person dies suddenly at Cromwell school

Flowers marked the spot at Cromwell College where a person died from a medical event yesterday morning.

A police spokesperson said a person died suddenly in a public place as a result of a medical incident.

Emergency services, including an Otago Rescue Helicopter, were called to Barry Ave about 7.20am yesterday.

The death was not being treated as suspicious, the police spokesperson said.

The person was not a pupil at the school.

Cromwell College delayed the start of the school day until 10am because of the incident.
