Mountain Biking North Otago’s Funduro event was held at the Herbert Forest on Saturday.
The day could not have gone more smoothly event manager Shanon Gibbs said.
"There was positive support from all the riders. There were no injuries. Everything went like clockwork."
Over 100 riders took part and were all very happy with the event, he said.
"Most people were of the opinion they’d like to [do] it again next year. They had a really great day, the tracks were awesome."
Mr Gibbs loved seeing those in the junior section enjoy the event.
"That’s really great to see. They’re the future of the sport and they were having a great time."
The event got its name because it was a fun introduction to enduro races, he said.
"This is an opening to get out and see what enduro is like. It’s more downhill orientated than cross country [races]. It’s more inviting to all levels of skill."
An enduro race is a time trial-style race where riders try to get the fastest time going down a hill.
To make it as welcoming as possible, no prizes were awarded as Mr Gibbs just wanted it to be "a fun day out".
"We take times and you can have bragging rights if you are the fastest person but that’s the only prize. Everyone is just having fun."
He wanted to thank all their sponsors for making the day possible.
