Road access at Moeraki is improving, although Haven St will not be opened for its full length in the short term.

In addition, more signs showing the location of Moeraki businesses had gone up, Waitaki District Council roading engineer Michael Voss said.

The slip-affected section of Haven St, east of Davids St, would not be opened while drainage work was being done.

New drains would be placed along the street as it seemed to be more prone to rain events, Mr Voss said.

Footpath access across the slip section would be open by Christmas. Retiring Waihemo Community Board member Jack Lyford said at the Waihemo Community Board public forum on Tuesday he was extremely disappointed over the delays with the unfinished work on Haven, Davids, Tenby and Haverford Sts.

The Waihemo Community Board and the Waitaki District Council had approved the expenditure needed for road improvements and the work was supposed to be completed by Labour Weekend. The ruts on the unfinished reconstruction of Haverford St were up to 22cm deep over Labour Weekend, he said.
