What's a trip to Oamaru without taking in a bit of Steampunk?

Dunedin-based photographer Nick Beadle was in Oamaru recently and, while his wife and mother-in-law were off on a tour, he took the opportunity to explore the North Otago town with his camera.

His plan was to get up early to capture "dramatic'' sunrise photos around the Victorian Precinct and Friendly Bay in Oamaru.

After recent rainfall, he struck it lucky with this reflection shot at Steampunk HQ.

He regularly posts scenic photos of Dunedin on Facebook and Instagram and has about 6000 followers between the two social media platforms.

"It started off as an Instagram account for my window cleaning business about two years ago, taking a few photos around Dunedin of some window cleaning clients and various buildings and things that we'd cleaned, and it kind of just grew from there,'' Mr Beadle said.

"It started to show off how cool Dunedin is, but you get an opportunity to go to a nice place like Oamaru, you may as well do the same thing.''
