Green Island 259 beat Albion 232

Green Island had its day in the sun with a 27-run win over Albion at Sunnyvale on Saturday.

Opener Oscar Wilson was steady in scoring 65 runs for his side, and his total was ably supported by Joe Smellie (42 off 59) and Matthew West (44 off 33).

But bowler Brad Soper caused havoc, taking three for 38 and a run-out to restrict Albion and bring the visiting side to a halt.

Meade was also good with the ball, taking two for 52 to secure the win.

The University-Grange bowlers were in some form. Lahiru Vimukthi was economical taking three for 21 and Zac Cumming also picked up three wickets and a run-out.

Cumming’s older brother, Jacob, also starred with the bat.

He was University’s level head to open proceedings, finishing with an unbeaten knock of 58.
