The Albany Alligators fought their way to a 4-2 win over Kings United A in the men's premier competition on Saturday.
The teams were evenly matched in the first half as the ball ping ponged between both sides.
Albany started with four consecutive penalty corners but could not get it together in order to score.
Kings' Nick Cantwell scored the first goal of the game, breaking the back and forth, and Albany put together a team effort and got the ball to the circle, where Jason Dungey closed with a goal from the post.
After scoring the equaliser, and having a serious chat at halftime, the Alligators started playing a much tighter game.
Jared Hewitt whacked in a goal after the play was set up by team mate Josh Caldwell.
Caldwell then made an impressive run down the field, getting the ball into the circle for Nathan Gilbert to smack into goal.
Campbell Paton made several speedy attacks for Kings, sprinting the ball down the line, but did not have enough support in the circle.
Albany leapt to 4-1 ahead when Dungey hustled the ball past Kings and got it to Gilbert, who was waiting in the centre of the circle and grabbed his second goal of the game.
Before the final whistle, Lawson Davison managed to snag a consolation goal for Kings.
In the other men's premier game, the University Blue Whales beat the University Black Panthers 3-1. In the premier 2 grade, KETOB A beat Albany B 4-3 and the Taieri Tuataras beat the University Seals 7-0.
