Morgan McLean scored a hat trick to lead Kings A to a 4-2 win against Albany A in the latest round of premier men's hockey on Saturday.
Kings came into the game on the back of a solid performance last week and picked up where it left off against University.
Todd Gould drove deep around the baseline before passing the ball around the goalkeeper for McLean to push into the net.
Minutes later, Mclean added a second by getting a deft touch on a ball rocketing in from the field.
In the second half, McLean continued his good form and picked up his third when he connected with another Gould pass to beat the defence.
Albany then came back with two quick goals to Toby Hammond.
For his first, Hammond tidied up a loose ball in front of the Kings goal and fired into the top corner, then he combined with Haughton Gilbert to thread the ball through the defence with stunning accuracy.
Gould then capped a good day for Kings by running most of the way from his own line to score with a superb reverse-stick shot.
In other games, University A had wins over University B (5-3) and the City Highlanders (6-2).
University was too strong for Momona A in the women's premier competition, winning 4-1.
Momona started strongly and scored early from a penalty corner taken beautifully by Lisa Grant with a clean shot straight into the corner.
University was galvanised into action and attacked through Lydia Cooke and Michelle Borren, who set up play and controlled the midfield, making it hard for Momona to progress.
Anna McConachy came on for University and within seconds she latched on to a through-ball moved into the circle and pushed it into the corner of the goal to even up the score.
The students won a penalty corner which resulted in a shot by Charlotte Henley that gave Momona goalkeeper Heike Schultz little chance.
In the second half, the game swung from end to end, with some good long balls being put through by both teams.
The lightning-fast University attacks through the centre culminated in a three-on-one which drew Schultz out.
Borren dribbled past her and tucked the ball home in the corner.
Momona tried hard to come back before University put together another attack that was finished off by Borren.
In other games, Taieri beat Momona B 6-2 and the City Highlanders beat St Hildas 2-1.
