Salvatore is an anchor for the $250,000 Pick6 at Awapuni tomorrow. He has all the credentials to win the weight-for-age Challenge Stakes (1400m).

Salvatore has won his last four starts, including a wfa over 1600m at Tauranga two starts back. Matthew Cameron has retained the mount. Salvatore has also won five times over the Challenge Stakes distance of 1400m.

Anne Herbert, his Cambridge trainer, said last night that Salvatore, had "done everything right" since his last start on November 27.

Herbert will be back on her old stamping ground. She and her husband, Wayne, were based at Riwa Park, near Palmerston North when they won the Challenge Stakes with Tit For Taat in 2001 and 2002.

Riwa Park is now Copper Belt Lodge, operated by Kevin Gray. He has 3yr-old Cellarmaster in the Challenge Stakes.

Bulginbaah, who won the Challenge Stakes in 2007, is back as a 10yr-old tomorrow. O'Cartier, the winner last year, is also in the field.
