Racing: Stormy Rain set to continue

Trainer Michael Daly was delighted to learn yesterday that Stormy Rain had not been rehandicapped at Cromwell tomorrow for his win at Washdyke on Thursday.

"I know it was only a rating 75 race he won on Thursday but I was thinking he would get an extra kilogram at Cromwell," Daly said.

The Racing Bureau said Stormy Rain would be re-rated but would not incur a rehandicap.

Stormy Rain prevailed narrowly over 2100m. Daly is not hesitant about another race for Stormy Rain three days later.

"He has backed up well before," Daly said.

Jillian Morris has retained the mount over 2000m tomorrow.

Stormy Rain won at Riccarton in February, six days after he won at Gore. He ran Woodyeva to a neck in the Cromwell Cup (2000m) in March, two days after finishing third at Omakau.

He meets Woodyeva 1.5kg better in the weights tomorrow. Inferno, who ran a close third in the Cromwell Cup with 57.5kg, has 1.5kg more tomorrow.
