Trojan continued his preparation for the Maurice Holmes Vase at Addington tomorrow week when he was successful at the Wyndham trials yesterday.
Trojan made the pace over the last 2000m of the 2400m heat and won by 21 and a-half lengths. He ran the 2400m (mobile) in 3.03.7, the final 800m in 56.7, the last 400m in 27.1.
Roxburgh co-trainer Geoff Knight timed the 6yr-old to run his last mile on an off (sticky) track in 1.59.1.
Trojan was a last-start winner at Addington a month ago with Franco Jamar second.
The Maurice Holmes Vase is a $20,000 free-for-all over 2600m from a stand with the winner guaranteed a start in the New Zealand Trotting Cup on November 8.
Knight said the Cup was the target for the nine-win gelding.
