Jockey David Walsh has been ruled out of race riding for three weeks after he was knocked unconscious in a race fall at Riccarton yesterday.
Walsh was admitted to Christchurch Hospital for observation after his mount Coloroftheknight fractured his forelegs at the 500m.
Replacement riders will be required for Under And Over, Mels Bad Boy, Theruler, The Winger, MacO'Reilly (Manawatu Cup), Elcee's Gold (Challenge Stakes) and Goldan at the Manawatu meeting today.
Trainer Michael Pitman scratched Coup Align, Deeday and Fellini yesterday when the track changed with rain.
"Coup Align has plenty of opportunities over the holidays and Deeday and Fellini will race at Wingatui on Friday," Pitman said.
"The track was perfect at 7.30am but deteriorated with the rain."
Ashlee Mundy was suspended for three riding days from Monday until the following Tuesday inclusive for careless riding.
She admitted shifting in at the 250m when riding Irish Jig, coming in contact with Windarra.
Flashing Red was hampered.
Jan Cameron was fined $175 for failing to weigh in for Portabello Rose.
• Jockey Gavin McKeon remained in an induced coma yesterday after sustaining head injuries in a race fall at Otaki on Thursday, NZPA reports.
He also received a broken nose and a possible elbow injury when his mount Henry Daniels clipped heels and fell with 700m to run.
"It's the usual practice to keep anyone with head injuries under sedation for 48 hours," Wally O'Hearn, his manager, said.
• Keen Commander was a dashing winner of a barrier trial at Warwick Farm yesterday, AAP reports.
Keen Commander, ridden by Corey Brown, won by 14 lengths over 780m in 46.6.
Keen Commander is preparing for a Gold Coast campaign.
He won the Lightning Handicap at Randwick in October.
Trainer Denise McGrath said she was on the lookout for a new jockey for Keen Commander, who was partnered three times in the spring by Shane Dye.
McGrath said Keen Commander would run in the $A100,000 Bat Out Of Hell Handicap at the Gold Coast on January 3 before the $200,000 Magic Millions Sprint (1000m) a week later.
The 5yr-old has not raced since running sixth in the Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 8.
Anatomica won a heat by two and a-half lengths yesterday in 47.6.
Trainer Joe Pride has the 3yr-old filly nominated for Randwick on Friday.
She has not raced since finishing fourth in the San Domenico Stakes on August 9.
