Tinsley on Eel Win in Otaki Stakes

Hayden Tinsley has been engaged to ride Eel Win in the weight-for-age Otaki Stakes at Otaki tomorrow.

David Walsh, who rode Eel Win to a last-start win in the White Robe Lodge Handicap (1600m) at Wingatui on January 31, has opted for Sir Slick.

Walsh rode Sir Slick to win the Thorndon Handicap (1600m) at Trentham last month.

Sir Slick won the Otaki Stakes two years ago in the hands of Bruce Herd.

Tinsley rode the Michael Pitman-trained Eel Win to win an 1800m race for three- and four-year-olds at Kurow last month.

Michael Walker, who has won the Otaki Stakes on the 3yr-olds Alamosa (2008) and Darci Brahma (2006) is engaged for Insouciant.

Walker will require a medical clearance.

He was stood down from his rides on the latter half of the programme at Wairoa yesterday after complaining of a tingling feeling in an arm.

He was taken to hospital, where his condition was monitored.

He was discharged.

Mr Tipsy, who won a rating 90 2100m on a slow track at Ellerslie on Saturday, is in a rating 94 2300m at Otaki.

Leith Innes replaces Michael Coleman as his rider.

The Montjeu 4yr-old is 15th in order of entry to the $1 million Auckland Cup on March 4.

Six O'Clock News is headed to Otaki for the St Leger Trial (2300m).

He was also an acceptor at Matamata.

Ombre Rose, now trained at Matamata by Mark Walker, is down to make a fresh start there on Saturday in an open 1200m.

Ombre Rose has not raced since November 29.

Andy Webb, who can claim 3kg, has the mount.

She is topweight with 58kg.

Showmaker, who is unbeaten in two starts this season, is in a race for mares and fillies at Riccarton on Saturday.

The Daniel Champion-trained Showmaker won twice at Wingatui in December.
