Continued success for Otago youngsters

Otago swimmers continued to be among the medals at the national age-group championships in Auckland over the weekend.

Neptune’s Erika Fairweather continued her impressive meeting with four more gold medals.

She won the girls 14 200m backstroke and 400m IM, being followed by Kiwi’s Madison Wills in the latter.

She then swam 4min 22.35sec to win the girls 14 400m freestyle and 2min 21.89sec to win the 200m IM.

Oamaru’s Tiana Mansfield also delivered a silver in the girls 16 200m backstroke,  and Ben Carr was second in the boys 17-18 100m butterfly.

Caitlin Deans and Jessica Scott won bronze medals in the girls 17-18 200m backstroke and girls 15 100m butterfly respectively.

Scott swam 1min 03.03 to break the Otago 14-15 girls long-course record.

Oamaru swimmers Mansfield and Corbin Fraser claimed bronzes in the girls 16 100m backstroke and boys 12-13 50m breaststroke respectively.
