Dunedin’s vibrant multicultural performance community will come together next week for a night of dance, music and fun, to help secure the future of the Kazbah Dance Studio.

The "Drum, Dance and Dessert" event, to be held on June 8, from 6.30pm at 22 Victoria Rd, aims to raise funds to cover the relocation of the not-for-profit community space, which supports and promotes Middle-Eastern inspired dance and music in Dunedin.

The family-friendly event is hosted by the Khamzin Bellydancers, who dance a modern fusion style known as "Fat Chance Bellydance", and they will present a performance during the event.

Also stepping up will be dancers with the MayaDhara international dance school, who will perform the classical Indian dance styles of Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam.

The event will also feature a live band, drummers, and a performance by Dunedin’s own Jack Frost Morris Dancers — the southern-most Morris group in the world.

On June 8, the doors will open at 6.30pm and performances will begin at 7pm.

The "Dance, Drum and Dessert" event is a fundraiser for the relocation of the Kazbah Studio to Kaikorai Valley, Ellis Park clubrooms.
