Fifteen Fashion Treasures from Toitu's Collections
Dunedin-based dress historian Dr Jane Malthus will give a talk to mark the 15th iD Dunedin Fashion Week. Dr Malthus combines research in the history of dress and textiles, especially that of 19th- and 20th-century New Zealand, with teaching at the Otago Polytechnic School of Fashion and as her role as an honorary curator of dress at Otago Museum.
She writes about 19th-century dress and dressmakers, including the "Eden Hore Collection" of 1970s fashion and textiles; curates historical and dress exhibitions, including the material culture section of the recently reopened Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.
This is a free event which will be held in Toitu Otago Settlers Museum auditorium on Saturday April 5 at 12.15pm.
Style Yourself Vintage
This event is an intimate, fun and interactive workshop for vintage fashionist as of all ages and body shapes.
Sought-after vintage stylist and owner of The Vintage Dress Company Sharon Bratton will provide personal advice and styling tips to give much loved vintage pieces a contemporary makeover with the use of modern accessories. Not sure how to dress for your body shape? Sharon will be giving tips on that too.
Bring along your vintage clothing, accessories and your girlfriends for a fun afternoon that will have you walking away with vintage va vavoom!
