ABs will be ready for the final: Jane

Electric winger Cory Jane says the All Blacks will not take long to get back on the ground and prepare for France in the World Cup final.

Speaking after the win against the Wallabies late on Sunday night, Jane said the players were sore from a physical game but would recover quickly.

"We had a goal coming into this, that we wanted to win it and get better each week," he said.

"That is no different this week. It is going to be up against France and it is going to be completely different than any other test match.

"On their day, they can turn up and destroy anyone. We will be watching that. We need to work hard this week. When it comes to game time, we just don't want to give them a chance."

He said the French were hard to read and capable of anything.

"Defensively, France are pretty good. One minute they do something and then they'll go and do something completely different the next. So it is hard.

"But we just need to concentrate on us. If we worry too much about the opposition, we'll forget about our own game."

Jane was awarded man of the match on Sunday night and has been a class act in this tournament so far.

The Australians kicked the ball to him a lot but the Hurricanes man, who has played the majority of his rugby at fullback, handled it well.

The French were bound to follow that tactic in the final but Jane would be ready.

"We had worked hard at training and if we did not catch them, we knew we would be in trouble. I love taking the high ball and love chasing them."

Jane has made a sky-rocketing return to form after a disappointing campaign with the Hurricanes, blighted by injury and disappointing team form.

But he is a big-game player and the bigger the stage, the better he seems to play.

"It's always easy when you are at home. Looking back at the Tri-Nations [in Brisbane], when the crowd gets behind the home team, it makes it a tough job. But we managed to start pretty well and the crowd got behind us ... that was pretty good support, really."

Jane did not make his All Black debut until the end of 2008, so has no baggage from the quarterfinal defeat to France in 2007. In fact, he could not even recall where he watched the disappointing loss in Cardiff.

The right winger did not come through the game unscathed on Sunday night, cutting his nose and needing three stitches.

"It's not as bad as it looks," he said. "It is crooked anyway."
