On Monday, Craig Clapperton, of Palmerston, was taken to hospital after a crash involving his grain truck and a logging truck on State Highway 1, north of Hampden.
His cab was severely damaged and Mr Clapperton was in a critical condition when he was freed from his vehicle by emergency services.
In a social media post, Mr Clapperton’s wife, Kelly, said he had five fractures on one side of his body and would require multiple surgeries.
