    Demand for beds at retirement villages in the Waitaki district is prompting the Waitaki District Council to consider pumping thousands of dollars into the Observatory Hill Retirement Village planned for Oamaru.

    The cost to clean up the January 23 flood of Otematata Boat Harbour camping ground, at the mouth of the Otematata River, is yet to be established, a Waitaki District Council spokesman says.
