The second highest price paid at auction for a southern bull this season was paid in Oamaru last week.
Fossil Creek Angus stud sold a bull to Stern Angus from South Canterbury for $15,500.
The top auction price this year was $17,500 for a Hereford bull sold by Moneymusk Polled Herefords, at Te Anau, to the Limehills Hereford stud, belonging to Gray and Robyn Pannett.
PGG Wrightson Otago livestock genetics manager Roger Keach said the last two southern bull sales in Oamaru last week ended on a strong note.
Fossil Creek sold 33 Angus bulls for an average price of $4603, while Roseville Charolais sold 12 bulls for an average of $3500.
Two Charolais made $5500, one selling to Mt Stoker Station, Middlemarch, and the second to Te Herapuka Downs, Palmerston.
