Sorec skills partnership manager James Bracewell said the summit, to be held at Otago Polytechnic on April 18, was an opportunity to get together to discuss what the needs and opportunities were, as well as how to best help and support the sector and the "brilliant" companies that worked in it.
United Machinists chief executive Sarah Ramsay said the event was a great way for the manufacturing and engineering community to engage with each other and the government.
"Last time we held it we saw a flurry of engagement between industry and programmes such as our High School Engineering Academy, Callaghan’s R & D and Industry 4.0 programmes and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s export support programmes.
"It’s also a great way for companies to reconnect with each other."
Westpac industry economist Paul Clark and a government representative will be among the speakers.
Business South chief executive Mike Collins said the summit was a great opportunity to bring the manufacturing and engineering community together, "to celebrate the successes and elevate thinking towards future proofing the industry".
- Sorec is producing a dedicated engineering and manufacturing publication which will be published before the symposium and inserted in the Otago Daily Times, giving engineering and manufacturing companies in Otago and Southland the opportunity to highlight their business and celebrate the sector.
