Vodafone appears to be following in the footsteps of Kmart in leaving its Meridian Mall shop.

The telecommunications company’s retail store with an entrance on George St is “temporarily closed” for health and safety reasons.

The Otago Daily Times understands the closure is in relation to earthquake strengthening needed at Meridian Mall.

Vodafone is understood to want to open at a new site in George St by next month, but the exact location is not yet known.

Vodafone NZ has not responded to requests for comment.

At the start of the month, Kmart announced it would not return to Meridian Mall after staying closed following the Level 4 lockdown.

The company cited concerns about earthquake strengthening needed at the mall.

Comments

So between the clowns who run this centre and DCC idiocy, this nd of town is becoming a wasteland far quicker than even I thought it would.

Lets not forget this centres spokesperson firmly believes earthquake standards really only apply if you have an earthquake. Yes that is true, just a shame on any shopper who schedules their shopping for earthquake day.
