Pairs of victims are abducted, imprisoned and traumatised until forced to make a choice in a virtual game of Russian roulette. The task of tracking down the person responsible falls to Detective Inspector Helen Grace.

Grace has, until now, kept a lid on a dark past, with her no-nonsense outlook on life, leading to a rise up the police ranks.

But this series of abductions will force her to breaking point, and have her confront the ghosts lurking in her background, while also unravelling corruption within her investigative team.

The intrigue, tempo and suspense increases with every page as Grace ultimately has to confront an unthinkable truth behind this series of abductions, eventually realising each abduction is meant as bait for her.

Arlidge has captured the raw emotion of each character and in particular the complications behind Grace's personality, penning a book that is easy to follow, easy to read and difficult to put down.
