Police in Tasmania have called for witnesses to a double road fatality in which a married couple died when hit by a hay bale.
The man and woman were riding a motorcycle at Lilydale in the state's north about 3pm (AEDT) on Sunday when the bale fell from a passing truck, police said.
The bale was still moving when it struck the bike.
The pair died at the scene.
Investigators want to speak with anyone who saw a white Western Star truck and trailer transporting large round bales of wrapped hay between the townships of Westbury and Lilydale around the time of the incident.
The deaths were among four on Tasmanian roads in a 24-hour period over the weekend, including a 57-man who died in a single motorcycle crash and a man who died when the ute he was driving crashed off the road on King Island.
