An Otago-based lecturer has become New Zealand's first occupational therapist to receive a Fulbright scholarship.
Linda Wilson, the principal lecturer of the School of Occupational Therapy at Otago Polytechnic, is one of eight Fulbright New Zealand Senior Scholar Award recipients this year and the only one to be chosen from the polytechnic sector.
The $US11,750 (NZ$17,000) grant will pay for Dr Wilson to travel to the United States to teach and conduct research for three months.
Dr Wilson grew up in Lower Hutt and has practised occupational therapy in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and Britain.
She set up the Otago Polytechnic School of Occupational Therapy in 1990.
