The Otago University Students' Association is confident students can once again out-give staff in this year's ''staff v students'' foodbank appeal.
OUSA president Francisco Hernandez encouraged University of Otago staff and students to once again get behind the initiative after students narrowly won the inaugural foodbank appeal last year.
The fact that students out-numbered staff meant Mr Hernandez was confident the students would win once again.
People were asked to bring non-perishable food to the OUSA stall at market day tomorrow. The final weigh-in would take place in the afternoon, he said.
Last year, the final weigh-in came to 153.5kg of food for the students and 148.3kg for the staff after a sneaky last-minute shopping trip by former OUSA president Logan Edgar tipped the scales in the students' favour.
Similarly to last year, the proceeds from the appeal will be distributed among several Dunedin foodbanks.
