Gibbons new polytechnic chief executive

Otago Polytechnic is in “good hands” after appointing Megan Gibbons as the organisation’s new chief executive.

Polytechnic council chairwoman Kathy Grant believed Dr Gibbons' leadership qualities would be essential as the organisation transitioned to a revamped tertiary education structure.

Dr Gibbons will begin on May 30, following the retirement of Phil Ker, who has led Otago Polytechnic since 2004.

Dr Gibbons was an academic focused on quality and learner outcomes, and had held different positions within Otago Polytechnic.

Dr Ker said Dr Gibbons' combination of experience, passion, commitment and integrity would ensure the polytechnic would continue to set a high benchmark.

“As a member of Otago Polytechnic's executive leadership team for the past 18 months, Megan has added significant value and vision.’

‘‘In short, Otago Polytechnic is in good hands.’’
