Michael Benjamin Nunn, 36, appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to sexual conduct with a child.
The court heard that on August 31 an 11-year-old girl playing in the street was invited into Nunn’s house.

Nunn lay between the girls and touched the 11-year-old before forcing her to touch him.
Afraid, the victim left the house and told her family about what happened.
Nunn told police he regretted his actions, but could not offer any real explanation for them.
Yesterday, the court heard the offending had affected many aspects of the girl’s life, including her schooling and relationships with adults.
"This young girl has had her life turned upside down by your actions," Judge Mark Callaghan said.
He noted this would be the first black mark on Nunn’s criminal record and that he was candid and remorseful about the offending.
Nunn told a probation officer he had an "underlying attraction to young females" and had tried to address this by not drinking alcohol.
He said drinking lessened his self-control and he had consumed alcohol at the time of his offending.
Judge Callaghan sentenced him to 15 months and two weeks’ imprisonment, but gave him leave to apply for home detention if a suitable address became available.
Nunn was automatically registered on the Child Sex Offender Register.
