Detective Sergeant Stan Leishman yesterday said police were still looking for the man, who was described as being about 190cm tall, of solid build and of Maori or Pacific Island descent.
He would not say whether the man was regarded as dangerous.
The offender brandished a firearm during the aggravated robbery which took place about 11.30am last Friday in Gordon Rd.
Det Sgt Leishman said the man threatened staff and customers, and took ``a quantity of cash'' before fleeing in a small black-coloured car.
