Spate of burglaries in Dunedin overnight

A theft of about $5000 worth of property from a Stafford St storage unit was one of three burglaries reported in Dunedin overnight.

Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield, of Dunedin, said a significant amount of property was taken from the storage unit during the last few weeks, including a 50-inch television, skis, ski boots, an outboard motor and some signs. Police were appealing for information, he said.

''Someone's got to know something about where these items ended up.''

A stainless steel bench and laundry tub was also taken from a Main South Rd property in Green Island, Snr Sgt Butterfield said.

In the third reported burglary, torches, diesel and a chainsaw were stolen from a commercial premises on Bush Rd, Mosgiel.
