Tools targeted in night-time break-ins

Dunedin police are investigating the theft of a chainsaw and building tools valued at more than $2100 from a truck parked in North East Valley over Tuesday night.

An electric drill, nail gun and other tools were among the items stolen from the unlocked truck in Croydon St, Senior Sergeant Ian Temple said.

Intruders also smashed side windows in several cars parked in Ravensbourne Rd and stole various small items over the past couple of nights.

A power cord was stolen after a car window was smashed over Tuesday night, on Ravensbourne Rd, near Wakatipu St, Snr Sgt Temple said.

Other items had been taken in two other similar break-ins in the area over Monday night, also after a rough search of the cars, Snr Sgt Temple said.

Property had also taken from a Bush Rd property in a daylight burglary between about 8am and 5.30pm on Tuesday, he said.
