Trial date set for multiple historic sex offences

A trial date has been set for a 70-year-old Dunedin man charged with multiple sex offences.

The man, who was granted name suppression at an earlier appearance, is charged with 12 counts of indecent assault on a person over 16, five of indecent assault on a person aged 12 to 16, three of unlawful sexual connection and two of committing an indecent act on an underage girl.

The charges relate to historic offending between 2003 and 2007.

At the Timaru District Court this afternoon Judge Joanna Maze remanded the man on bail for trial at Timaru on December 9.

The man was not present at court for today's pre-trial callover.
