About 5100 students across Otago began their NCEA and New Zealand Scholarship exams yesterday.

Of these, almost 400 Otago students are entered for New Zealand Scholarship — a prestigious award that recognises exceptional academic achievement. Scholarship recipients may receive between $500 and $30,000 to support their future study or training.

NZQA assessment deputy chief executive Jann Marshall said students could access a range of resources to help them prepare and stay well during exam season.

"NZQA’s Student Assessment Hub has tips for exam preparation, wellbeing advice and information on what to expect on exam day."

Updates and support were also available on Instagram and Facebook.

"Students should make sure they’ve created their student login on the NZQA website," Ms Marshall said.

"This login is essential for accessing digital exams and for viewing your results in January."

She also reminded students to check their exam times carefully, arrive early and bring the correct materials.

"We wish every student the very best and encourage them to approach each exam with confidence and calm."

Students could talk to their teachers or school if they had any concerns.
