Fundraising event at stadium a step up

People can get a unique view of Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium as part of a charity event to raise money for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand.

LBC support services manager Emma Barker said entrants in the inaugural Stair Climb on September 16 would  take on the challenge of climbing more than  5000 steps.

She said volunteers and local businesses were being sought to help put on the  event.

"We really hope that Dunedin will get behind the stadium climb and show their support for blood cancer patients and their families in the region.”

LBC supported patients, their caregivers and their families by providing emotional, physical and financial assistance and easing the burdens of blood cancer.

Dunedin resident Kelly Latimer was the first to register for the event.

"I signed up because I really love being physically active and I also really liked that it was a fundraising event for a really good charity."
